THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME Joe’s Remote Telescope Set-up My desktop and the laptop both use Windows XP operating systems. The laptop is connected to the LX90 using a Belkin USB to serial port adaptor. The desktop and laptop are networked via Linksys wireless. LAPTOP : Open AutostarSuite > telescope > communications > start network server. Set scope port to the port # that connects to the telescope. Set network port to 5401. Set password. Check listen. Minimize this window. Do not close it. Close the AutostarSuite window. DESKTOP : Open AutoatarSuite > telescope > protocal > autostar via network. In the remote telescope address window, under network address enter the IP address of the laptop and port # 5401. Connect. Enter the password that was set up on the laptop. A warning will come up about the dangers of remote telescopes. Click OK. Click on telescope > protocal. (autostar via network should be checked automatically if everything is going OK ). Click on remote handbox. Enter IP address of the laptop and port # 5401. Check connect. Autostar should initialize and the dotted line should be moving across the screen. Close the AutostarSuite Window. ISSUES : Do not allow the laptop go into a standby mode. Sometimes when the windows of this program are closed they may still be active in the task manager window. This may cause a problem when trying to set up this program again without a restart. Good Luck, Jody
