When you've got one of these...(Tacamo Type 68D)

It seems to me you need the magazine pouch that goes with it...

Paintball version and original Chinese version:
My repro is based on the image below of a version with 4 mag pouches and 2 implement pouches. The basic dimensions are taken from a 3 pouch version I own.

The pods will barely squeeze into the AK mag pouches of the original but not all the way and then the flap will not close. They tend to measure 8" tall by 3.5" wide, by 1 to 1.25" deep. The 30 round TAC pods work fine. If you opt to use an original, don't get the SKS 10 pouch rig, it's made for a much smaller rifle mag and 9 of the pouches are about 2.5" by 1/2" deep and 4.5" tall. I don't know of anything paintball that will fit in that.

Details:
Note - it still needs to be dyed darker green - the olive drab dye just isn't dark enough. I intend to get it as near the color of the Chinese one as possible.
Instead of tying like the original, the waist strap goes into double rings like a motorcycle helmet. It's more secure and easier for us folks sized a little larger than the average VC. I couldn't find cloth edge tape for the pouch flaps - the stores sell stuff that's like ribbon. I left off the bamboo toggles for now. I may make some just for looks - after I get it the right color.

The smaller pouches will fit radios, barrel plug, tool-kit, grenade, etc. The pods shown are 100 ball size.

Ok, here it is after 15 minutes in a pot of Rit Dark Green, and on the back a little, uh, Chinese?

Stole some toggles off an SKS chest rig to add to the pouch flaps and put weed-eater cord in the tops of the pouches to hold them open when returning pods one handed.

It just seemed the right piece of gear to go with the Type 68D. Versions of this thing have and are used by the Chinese, Vietnamese, and insurgent and rebel forces around the world.
